The Liberal Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell has sought funding from the Andrews Labor Government to commence the transformation of the Euroa Railway Precinct.
Speaking during the adjournment debate directed to Minister for Regional Development Mary-Anne Thomas, Ms Lovell sought a funding contribution of $100,000 to Strathbogie Shire Council to develop a Euroa Railway Precinct Concept Design for the precinct.
Euroa’s Anderson Street Bridge is slated for a major infrastructure upgrade as part of the Commonwealth Government’s Inland Rail Project and Council views this project as an opportunity to investigate a greater redevelopment of the entire Euroa Railway Precinct.
In her contribution Ms Lovell said that Strathbogie Shire Council want to conduct extensive consultation regarding the future of the Euroa Railway Precinct and will ensure key stakeholders and the local community are heavily involved in any design work.
It is intended that the Euroa Railway Precinct Concept Design will provide greater connectivity and accessibility into the precinct, as well as provide a visionary approach to the area.
Comments attributable to Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell:
“The people of Euroa have a deep-seated connection to their railway heritage and the Euroa Railway Precinct and understand that any future redevelopment of the precinct will have a significant impact on Euroa’s future.
“This is important planning work that will transform the entire railway precinct and I urge the Minister to provide funding of $100,000 to make the Euroa Railway Precinct Concept Design a reality.”
