LOVELL PUTS PRESSURE ON VIC GOVT TO FIX DAYLESFORD-MALMSBURY ROAD

Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell has put pressure on the Victorian Government for urgent repairs to the Daylesford-Malmsbury Road.
During this parliament sitting week Ms Lovell raised the poor condition of the C316, saying she was contacted by a constituent who said that the verges of the road have broken away and there are potholes everywhere.
“The constituent who raised the issue with me said that in some sections the road is just a mass of potholes and that ‘driving the road is like playing dodgem cars, as you weave all over the road avoiding the potholes’,” Ms Lovell said.
“He said that the condition of the road makes it very dangerous for drivers, and the wear and tear on vehicles and tyres is massive.
“He compares the road to something you would expect in a third world country, and says that the only safety precaution VicRoads has taken has been to erect a sign warning drivers to expect poor road conditions for the next 30km.”
Ms Lovell asked the Minister for Roads and Road Safety to commit to provide urgent maintenance for and to resurface the Daylesford-Malmsbury Road.
