The Liberal Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell says she is pleased to be recently advised of a planned upgrade to the road surface of Ross Street in Tatura.
Ms Lovell raised the condition of the road in State Parliament in October last year and recently received a response from Roads Minister Ben Carroll, informing her of the proposed upgrade sometime in the 2021-22 financial year.
While happy with the plans, Ms Lovell said it was disappointing that motorists must wait until after June before the commencement of any work.
Ross Street is not built to handle the many heavy vehicles that use it and the poor condition of the road at various locations has been a concern for residents for a long time.
With the commitment from Mr Carroll now secured, Ms Lovell called for planning for the upgrade to start immediately to make the road safer for motorists.
Comments attributable to Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell:
“I am delighted the government has responded to my advocacy for an upgrade of Ross Street, but the Tatura community shouldn’t have to wait until the next financial year to get it fixed.
“Now that the Minister has committed to upgrade the road, I call on the Government to prioritise the project and get planning underway immediately.”
