LOVELL ENCOURAGES COMMUNITY TO GIVE THANKS ON NATIONAL RED BALLOON DAY

Summer has officially ended and Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell is encouraging local residents to show their appreciation and support for local firefighters.
Celebrating National Red Balloon Day today, Ms Lovell said now is a great time to give thanks for the work of local firefighters, especially CFA volunteers.
“Our CFA volunteers deserve a great deal of respect, that’s why we should acknowledge them and thank them for their service,” Ms Lovell said.
“CFA volunteers form a vital part of every country community, not only protecting properties and lives, but assisting with important causes like the Good Friday Appeal.
“Our community always values the work of our local firefighters, and National Red Balloon Day is a terrific opportunity to show a sign of that appreciation by flying a red balloon from a mailbox, fence or business.”
National Red Balloon Day began in 2014 following devastating fires that wiped out farms and properties between Mickleham and Kilmore.
The event is similar to Blue Ribbon day honouring police and Wear Orange Wednesday for the State Emergency Service.
