The Liberal Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell has renewed calls for the Andrews Labor Government to build a new fire station in Yarrawonga.
Ms Lovell previously raised the condition of the current Yarrawonga Fire Station in March last year, calling on Minister for Emergency Services Lisa Neville to commit funding to build a new station on its current site, which is owned by the CFA.
Nearly twelve months later, no action has been taken to advance the building of a new station and the Yarrawonga volunteers have received no information regarding the project, despite it being identified as a top priority for CFA management.
In a constituency question to Ms Neville in State Parliament recently, Ms Lovell again sought a funding commitment to construct a new station and asked the Minister to personally intervene to get the project underway.
Comments attributable to Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell:
“The need for a new Yarrawonga Fire Station is unquestioned, with two separate CFA reviews finding the current station unsuitable and recommending a new station be built at its current site.
“The Yarrawonga volunteers work hard to protect their local community and they deserve a new fire station that meets the needs of a modern-day firefighting service.”
