The Liberal Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell has raised concerns around the poor condition of the Bendigo-Tennyson Rd in State Parliament and has called for funding from the Andrews Labor Government to upgrade the road.
In a constituency question to the Minister for Roads, Road Safety and the TAC Jaala Pulford, Ms Lovell sought a commitment to provide funding to improve the road between the Midland Hwy to Tennyson.
Tragically six people have lost their lives on Bendigo roads this year and a further 32 collisions has seen people hospitalised with various injuries.
The Bendigo Advertiser recently highlighted the poor condition of many roads around the Bendigo region and the Bendigo-Tennyson Rd was nominated as one of the most deteriorated roads in the district.
Comments attributable to Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell:
“Whilst there are many factors that contribute to collisions, Jaala Pulford must acknowledge that the poor condition of country roads such as the Bendigo-Tennyson Rd likely contributes to collisions that occur in regional areas.
“The Bendigo-Tennyson Rd has been identified as one of the worst in the district and it is time the Andrews Government provided the funding to fix it.”
