Shadow Minister for Health Georgie Crozier, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council David Davis and Member for Northern Victoria Region Wendy Lovell have visited Alpine Health’s Bright District Hospital to discuss plans to redevelop the service.
After speaking with Alpine Health management and staff, the Victorian Liberals have called on the Andrews Labor Government to immediately provide funding to update the hospital’s Masterplan as the first step towards this vital redevelopment.
Alpine Health are seeking a State Government funding commitment of around $300,000 for the service to review and update the plan which was last completed in 2015.
During their visit, Ms Crozier, Mr Davis and Ms Lovell saw first-hand that the hospital’s current infrastructure was compromising Alpine Health’s capacity to deliver the health services the Bright community needs.
Infrastructure needs at Bright District Hospital include new high care aged care beds, new air-conditioning in the hospital’s theatre area, an overhaul of the hospitals ventilation system and facilities to accommodate visiting medical specialists.
The visiting Liberal MPs said the funding commitment of around $300,000 would allow Alpine Health to identify and plan a redevelopment that will properly meet the healthcare needs of the community into the future.
